How do I know what a hash tag stands for?

In addition to creating this website, I’ve provided some useful links on the right side of the page under “#’s favorite links”. Enjoy!

I think the # has to be next to one word. Is that right? Or can you # a phrase– like this: #thisIsAPhrase? or this: #this is a phrase? or this? #this-is-a-phrase.

If you are, for example, tweeting a meeting of the Boulder Board of Realtors, how would you hash that?

You are correct. Most hash marks/tags are typically followed by a single word or acronym, and that would likely be the best route for you to create one. For Boulder Board of Realtors I might suggest #BBRe. Let me know if you’d like to use it so I can add it to the site!

Is there a hashtag for the swine flu news?
